October 28th “The Status of College Entrepreneurship in Southeast Wisconsin” at Discovery World.
The highlighted presentation of the day was the report on the status of college entrepreneurship in Southeast Wisconsin, by Mark Schug, Emeritus Professor from UWM. On behalf of BizStarts Milwaukee, Dr. Schug prepared and conducted a survey on entrepreneurship of the 20 colleges in the consortium. The final report states while a handful of colleges offer excellent entrepreneur programs, entrepreneurship education does not stand out as a strong, central focus at most of the colleges. Two other presentations rounded out the day. They were:
- Engaging the Business Community to build your Entrepreneurship Program.
- Insights to help you Grow a Successful Entrepreneur Program.

Nov. 5th College President’s meeting with Judith Cone at the University Club.
Almost every college was represented at this meeting by either the President, Chancellor or by a designated official of the college. BizStarts President John Torinus and Vice President Dan Steininger gave an overview of BizStarts Milwaukee. Judith Cone talked about the importance of creating a systemic culture of innovation and entrepreneurship on campus. It is her professional opinion that creating a pervasive entrepreneurial mindset on college campuses helps academics make significant changes in their fields, inspires students to have a profound impact on society through social entrepreneurship and encourages and educates students to create growth companies which have a dramatic economic impact on a regional economy.
