EDA Grant Expected to Create 350 Jobs
WASHINGTON - The U.S. Commerce Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) today announced a $458,000 grant to BizStarts Milwaukee, Inc., to advance entrepreneurism in Wisconsin. The project is expected to create 350 jobs and generate $6.9 million in private investment, according to grantee estimates.
“This EDA grant forwards President Obama’s goal of building a sustainable 21st century economy based on innovation and entrepreneurship by helping potential entrepreneurs plug into the expertise of the region’s existing small business development centers, workforce development boards and technical colleges,” said U.S. Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development, John R. Fernandez.
“The partnership of BizStarts Milwaukee and the Wisconsin Business Innovation Corporation pairs two highly competent and skilled organizations that have aggressively focused their energy on entrepreneurial development and business growth in distinctly different regions of the state, fulfilling EDA’s ideal vision of conceptually linking organizations and transcending geo-political boundaries,” said John Torinus, President, BizStarts Milwaukee, Inc.
