Description:

Cash Flow & Projections

We work with the entrepreneur to help define their assumptions and then structure a financial model of their business. With this model the entrepreneur can conduct what-if analyses and pursue alternate approaches. The business plan and the initial budget use the information from this model.

Management

Business founders have expertise in many business areas but are generally not proficient in all. We become members of the management team providing financial expertise on a part-time basis. Management defines the scope and depth of expertise needed. This can be reviewing monthly results or planning for the future.

Accounting

Accounting is a key function of any business. We can provide full accounting services including bookkeeping, customer billing and collection, and accounts payable services. When combined with our financial expertise the company is able to employ a full service, high quality, part-time accounting department from the very beginning.

Overview

Applied Management, LLC, is a small business consultant. We provide startups with high quality financial management expertise.

Since startups may have limited resources they might not invest in the required level of financial management expertise. They still need the financial manager’s skills. Startups address this issue differently:

  • The owner is already financially savvy or quickly becomes so. He is smarter but has no one on his team to discuss financial issues with.
  • The business’s bookkeeper grows and becomes the financial manager. Some do this successfully, some reluctantly and some are unable to do this.
  • The business’s CPA firm produces periodic financial reports. Management must receive and interpret financial reports shortly after the end of the month. Any arrangement should make sure this happens.
  • The business’s banker identifies strengths and weaknesses. The banker wants the owner to succeed. But first, he wants his bank to be a winner.
  • The business does nothing; in effect, it flies blind - a short-sighted and costly approach.
  • The business hires an experienced financial manager on a part-time basis. This person is part of the management team and provides the necessary expertise when and as needed on a viable cost-effective basis.
