Wisconsin Business Development Finance Corporation (WBD) is a private, not-for-profit corporation created in 1981 to assist Wisconsin businesses gain access to capital, create jobs and promote community development.
From its 5 locations around the State, WBD serves start-up & emerging businesses, established & growing businesses, financial institutions, and economic development organizations.
Services provided by WBD are as follows.
Intake Evaluation
After an initial review of information about the business, its owners and the proposed project, WBD staff will address the strengths and weaknesses of the project, make recommendations on how to strengthen the financing request, and identify appropriate and affordable financing options.
Loan Analysis Services
When a project seems credit worthy but has issues that require additional research, WBD staff can assist in investigating the specific eligibility and credit concerns under a Loan Analysis Agreement.
Loan Packaging Services
WBD staff are available to assist in packaging loan applications to a wide variety of financing programs. In the process, WBD works with the business and the lender to compile all necessary documentation, completes the credit analysis and other required forms, and assembles the application for lender review and signatures. After submission, WBD staff is available to assist in answering questions that may arise in the approval process.
Access to the SBA 504 Program
Through the 504 loan program, WBD and a primary lender can help fund the purchase of land, buildings, furniture, fixtures, machinery & equipment, and all associated soft costs (i.e. construction interest, attorney, accountant, architect, and appraisal fees, title insurance, etc.). The SBA 504 Program provides long-term financing (10 or 20 years) at very competitive fixed rates. The Program minimizes the down payment requirements, allowing the small business to conserve vital working capital to support future growth and can be used in conjunction with other State and Local Funding Programs.
